Raimana

Teahupo’o has come to be known as the heaviest wave in the world.  Set off the coast of Tahiti Iti, breaking in mere inches of water at times, this wave has become a right of passage for surfers from around the world to survive, if nothing else.  Raimana Van Bastolaer grew up in Tahiti and tells the story of his home break, Teahupo’o.  Raimana was among the first to surf Teahuopo’o and has been on the forefront of developing new ways to ride the dangerous beauty ever since.
